Adding the "Subscribe & Save" Block to Your PDPs
Add the Stay AI purchase options to your product pages from the Shopify theme editor, then customize how they look. Follow the steps below to get started.
1. Add the Subscribe & Save Block
To add the block to a product template:
1. Navigate to Sales channels > Online Store. You should see your live theme and all draft themes.
2. Click Duplicate on your live theme.
⚠️ Warning: Duplicate the live theme (the one that has your current buy boxes) and customize the duplicate. When you finish editing, you must publish the duplicate theme so your live site reflects your changes.
3. Find the duplicated theme in your draft themes and click Edit Theme.
4. In the top panel of the theme customizer, open the page dropdown and click Products.
5. Select the product template you want the buy box to display (e.g., Default product).
6. In the left-side menu, open the Product information section and click the + icon to add a block.
7. Select Apps, then select Subscribe & Save Block.
The buy box now appears in the section and applies to every product that uses this template. Drag the block up or down to change its position.
📌 Note: If some of your products use a different template, open that template and repeat these steps.
2. Customize the Subscribe & Save Block
Click on the block in the left-side panel to view all customizable settings.
Purchase type labels
Use these fields to change the label text:
One-time purchase label: Defaults to "One-Time Purchase".
Subscription label: Defaults to "Subscribe & Save".
Subscription tag: Defaults to "Popular". Leave blank to hide it.
The savings shown on the subscription label come from the discount in your Stay AI selling plan, applied to the product price set in Shopify.
Widget layout
Set subscription as default purchase option is selected by default. Deselect it to make one-time purchase the default when the page loads.
Display the subscription label first: Select it to show subscription as the first option. Deselect it to show one-time purchase first.
Display the one-time price first before the subscription price: Select it to show the slashed out one-time price before the subscription price. Deselect it to show the slashed out one-time price second.
Select the widget layout: Choose Stacked buttons with radio buttons, Stacked buttons without radio buttons, Split buttons, or Side by side buttons.
Subscription Details Settings
Customers hover over the subscription details icon or text to open a modal that explains your subscription program.
Display: In one line under the subscription option OR A list under the subscription option.
Subscription details: Add text about subscription perks.
SVG for Subscription Details: Paste the SVG for the icon that displays to the left of the button text.
Typography
Select the font family or font, text color, and font size to match your brand.
Background and border
Customize the background and border of the app block.
Border color: The border color of the purchase option buttons.
Selected background color: The background color of the selected option.
Selected text color: The text color of the selected option.
Accent color: The color of the radio buttons.
Border width: The width of the button borders.
Border radius: The roundness of the button corners. A higher number gives rounder corners.
Click Save when you finish. Once the block looks right, publish your duplicate theme.
3. Use the Block with a Specific Product Form
If your product page has more than one product form, the subscription frequency may not appear when a customer adds a subscription product to the cart.
To fix this, enter the Product Form ID in the field in the theme editor so the selling plan is added correctly when the subscription option is selected.
4. Hide Bundle Selling Plans from Product Pages
If a product can be both subscribed to and added to a bundle, the product page shows both the Standard and Bundle selling plans.
To hide the bundle plans, add the word bundle to the Storefront Option Label in your Bundle Selling Plan Group in the Stay AI merchant portal.
